Describe the whole route through your Seattle home
Identify whether the access barrier is outside, inside, or both. An entrance flight followed by another staircase to the main living level needs a proposal that explains each stage. Include photos of every turn and landing, and show doors open near either end. Olympic advertises straight and curved Stannah systems; Advantage describes several brands and indoor/outdoor configurations.
Ask the assessor to mark the proposed rail end, chair parking position and transfer area on the plan. If a landing would require changing between chairs, have that movement evaluated as part of the access solution. Do not select separate lifts solely by adding their equipment prices; the usable route and the rider’s ability to manage it are the important assessment questions.
Olympic Elevator · Advantage ElevatorInclude Seattle approvals in the installation schedule
Seattle’s official Elevator & Escalator Permit guidance includes accessibility lifts and private residences within its conveyance-permit process. It states that the installing elevator contractor must have a valid Washington license. Give the contractor the proposed stairlift and property details and ask for the applicable permit classification, required documents and any associated electrical work in writing.
Ask who applies, pays, coordinates inspection and supplies the completion paperwork. A quotation should distinguish equipment preparation from the work performed at the house. For an address elsewhere in the metro, confirm the responsible authority instead of carrying a Seattle process across city boundaries. Approval timing is a project dependency, not something established by a provider’s general fitting-time estimate.
Seattle conveyance permit guidance ↗Use a relevant demonstration to choose the options
Olympic Elevator lists an appointment showroom at 13231 NE 20th Street in Bellevue and documents Stannah stairlifts for the Seattle metro. That is a regional demonstration option, not a Seattle walk-in address. Ask which chair and powered features are available to operate, and whether the intended rider can test the seat and controls during the appointment.
Advantage lists Arlington as its base while advertising Seattle and Eastside service. A service-area page should not be read as evidence of a neighborhood showroom. If travelling is difficult, begin with an in-home assessment request and ask what can be demonstrated there. For any visit, the final rail design still depends on measurements at the installation address.
Olympic Elevator · Advantage ElevatorSettle maintenance, repair support and response charges
Olympic explicitly offers ongoing stairlift service, and Advantage and JWS advertise installation and repair work. These are useful local support routes, but they do not establish identical contracts. Ask for the parts warranty and labor coverage separately, including batteries, call-out charges and planned maintenance. Identify the business that takes responsibility after the installation team leaves.
For an existing lift, send a clear photograph of its identification label and describe the fault without dismantling it. JWS advertises broad lift-brand service, but its list also includes elevators and other equipment. Confirm the exact stairlift model, access to parts and dispatch terms. A 24-hour contact or service statement does not automatically mean a technician or repair will be available immediately.
Olympic Elevator · Advantage Elevator · JWS ElevatorKeep rental enquiries and home-support planning separate
The reviewed local pages did not establish a complete Seattle rental program with model eligibility, minimum term and fees. Stannah’s Seattle page identifies Olympic as its distributor, but its general rental FAQ is not a local contract. If temporary use is important, ask for a written rental or refurbished offer and keep installation, maintenance and removal within the same cost calculation.
Seattle Human Services describes Community Living Connections as a route to information, individual consultation and local resources for older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers. Use that service for wider support and eligibility questions while the equipment survey proceeds. An assistance referral does not establish that a stairlift will be funded, and a quote-service request does not replace a care assessment.
