Use Lansing price examples without turning them into promises
A published starting figure is useful for an initial conversation, but it cannot describe every staircase. Clock Mobility’s Michigan stairlift page gives an approximate basic straight starting point and a separate custom curved example. It also describes an assessment, measurement and installation process. The price paragraph does not clearly state a complete list of included labor, tax, travel or optional equipment. Ask for those inclusions expressly, rather than assuming the number applies unchanged to the proposed Lansing installation.
When the written proposal arrives, compare its scope with the example that prompted the enquiry. Identify the rail route, number of floors, seat operation and parking arrangement. Request a separate explanation for a folding rail, extra track or other required option. Ask which work, if any, needs another contractor and who coordinates it. A quote that explains the differences gives you something useful to approve; a monthly payment alone does not reveal the financed total, interest or the remaining ownership obligations.

Clock publishes a Lansing branch on North Waverly Road. That is a concrete local contact route, but a branch handling mobility vehicles and other equipment is not proof that every stairlift model is on display. Ask which installed chair can be tried, whether its controls match the proposed equipment and whether the person using it should attend. If transport is difficult, first ask what can be learned during the home assessment and what would be gained from a separate visit.
The regional alternative needs particular care with addresses. During this review, Lifeway’s Lansing page displayed a Canton address while its main Detroit location page displayed Plymouth. Use the company’s direct confirmation before arranging a trip, and ask which office dispatches the Lansing installation and repair team. Senior Home Solutions also explicitly names Lansing for Bruno stairlifts, without establishing a Lansing showroom. A service-area claim can support an enquiry while still leaving the visit location, travel charges and timetable unresolved.
Clock Mobility · Lifeway Mobility Detroit · Senior Home SolutionsSeparate a rental, a used purchase and future maintenance
For a short-term need, request the rental terms that apply specifically to the assessed staircase. Lifeway’s Lansing page advertises straight rentals and used equipment. Ask whether the upfront payment includes both fitting and eventual removal, when monthly charges begin and end, and how repairs are handled during the contract. A need lasting longer than expected can change the economics substantially, so request the purchase option at the same time and ask whether any rental payments can count toward ownership.
A used lift is a different proposition: it is a purchase whose equipment condition and warranty need to be documented. Request the model, previous-use information, inspection record and scope of any new rail or components. For a new or used installation, identify the service contact and ask about parts, batteries, labor and travel after the initial warranty. Clock describes installation handover and service scheduling; Lifeway states it services what it sells. Neither statement establishes free repairs forever or a guaranteed response at the Lansing address.

Capital Area Housing Partnership’s Tuesday Toolmen program describes volunteer-built entry ramps and accessibility modifications for income-qualified households across mid-Michigan. Its stated focus is valuable when entering the house or navigating other parts of it is also difficult. Explain the complete barrier and ask whether the proposed work falls within the program. Do not infer an installed stairlift grant from a reference to accessibility devices. Funding, eligibility, scope and scheduling must come from the organization, and a commercial deposit should not be paid on the assumption of reimbursement.
Tri-County Office on Aging provides another local route for older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers seeking support. Use it to discuss the household’s wider needs and current referrals. State whether the property is in Lansing, East Lansing or another municipality; those names should not be substituted on a housing application. Keep the required date visible in both conversations. If the equipment is needed sooner than an assistance process can reasonably respond, ask about a workable interim arrangement without assuming that any program will fund it.
